Loch Lomond Guided Canoe Expedition (15th – 16th July 2019)

Do you want to explore the islands of Loch Lomond by canoe? Would you like to spend a night on one of the islands under canvas? Responsibly enjoy an open fire while stargazing? All with the safety of a guide? Then our Guide Loch Lomond Canoe expedition is perfect for you!
Our two day guided canoe trip is the perfect way to explore Scotland’s largest freshwater loch. You will see some spectacular scenery and explore some of the lochs many islands. During this experience, you will develop your paddling and environmental awareness, as well as experience a responsible wild camp! This expedition will take place in tandem open canoes.
On day one, you will learn some of the fundamentals of paddling an open canoe. You and your canoe partner will develop your skills under the expert tutelage of our guides. You will spend the morning and afternoon paddling in a sheltered bay, before heading out to an island. On the island, you will gain your first experience of wild camping.
On day two, you will continue your adventure, developing on your skills further and journeying through some of Loch Lomond’s island chain, before returning to the same bay that you started in and completing your guided canoe expedition!
What experience do I need?
You don’t need to have been in a canoe before to enjoy this experience. You do need a basic level of fitness that will allow you to paddle a canoe for two days.
What will you provide?
We will provide the canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids, and all safety equipment. In addition to this, we’ll provide camping equipment including tents, sleeping bags, roll mats, stoves and a waterproof barrel to carry it in. We will also supply dinner in the evening, cooked on a barbeque.
What will I need to bring?
You will need to bring shoes which you don’t mind getting wet, clothes and a spare change, additional warm layers, hat and gloves, suncream, and insect repellant. You will also need to supply your lunch and snacks. When you book onto the course, we will provide you with a full kit list.
