Our Emergency First aid at Work course delivered in Glasgow is designed for employees, designated as first aider in low-risk workplaces. Our sessions are practical with hands-on scenarios, group learning and skill workshops. You’ll find this is a much more rewarding and enjoyable learning experience than the traditional chalk and talk/powerpoint method. What do I need to bring?
You should arrive with comfortable clothing suitable for moving around in, kneeling and even lying down. Depending on weather and the needs of the group we may also head outside! You’ll need to bring your lunch, but we will provide tea and coffee.
Who will my trainer be?
Our courses are all delivered by training professionals who work across various industries, including the outdoor industry. Your trainer will hold an advanced first aid certificate and education qualifications. Your trainer will have lots of real-life experience dealing with first aid incidents.
What will I learn?
Over the day you will learn basic life-saving skills, including the necessary protocols for examining and managing a casualty in a first aid situation. You’ll also learn how to look after an unconscious casualty who is breathing, and if they are not breathing, now to perform CPR. You’ll also learn how to insulate a casualty from the cold to stop them from becoming hypothermic, and what to pack in your first aid kit. Click here for a full syllabus list.
What accreditation will I gain?
The course is an Emergency First Aid at Work Course (EFAW), accredited by Qualifications Network UK and is valid for three years. The qualification is suitable for anyone designed as a first aider in a low-risk environment. It is also ideal for members of the public who would like to develop life-saving skills and techniques! Our previous customers have included school teachers, youth leaders, engineers and office workers.
Will I be assessed?
Yes, you will be assessment is an integral part of learning. We aim to keep the process as simple and relaxed as possible. You will complete a practical observation and a multiple choice question paper.
How do I get to Pinkston Paddlesports?
Driving: Pinkston Watersports Centre can be reached from junction 16 of the M8. There is free parking on site.
Public Transport: Pinkston Paddlesports is a short walk from Cowcaddens Underground.
