Our Forest school first aid course is designed for practitioners who take groups of children outdoors. This course is ideal for you if you are a forest school practitioner, early years worker, primary teacher or outdoor centre instructor. You’ll love our friendly blended approach on the course.
What will I learn?
You’ll learn lots over the two days, including how to deal with a variety of first aid emergencies for infants, children and adults. You’ll learn the necessary protocols for examining and managing casualties, how to look after an unconscious casualty who is breathing, and how to perform CPR. You’ll also learn how to insulate from the cold to stop them from becoming hypothermic, and what to pack in your first aid kit. Click here for a full syllabus list.
What will I need to bring?
You should arrive with clothing suitable for being in the outdoors, after working through scenarios we will often debrief outdoors- please ensure that you have enough warm layers including gloves and hats. You’ll need to bring your lunch, but we will provide tea and coffee.
Who will my trainer be?
Our courses are all delivered by outdoor professionals who work across the outdoor industry. Your trainer will hold an advanced outdoor first aid certificate and education qualifications. All of our trainers are involved in the outdoors, meaning that they have lots of real-life experience dealing with first aid incidents.
Is the course accredited?
Yes, it is! Our two-day forest school first aid course is accredited by Qualifications Network UK and is valid for three years. It is suitable for all outdoor enthusiasts and those who require a first aid qualification for a National Governing Body Award or an employer.
The two-day forest school first aid course also meets the requirements of the QNUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF), QNUK Level 3 Award in Pediatric First Aid (RQF) and the QNUK Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (RQF). Upon successful completion of the course, you can claim the certificates for the other three qualifications for a small additional charge.
How do I get to Pinkston Paddlesports?
Driving: Pinkston Watersports Centre is easily accessed from junction 16 of the M8. There is free parking on site.
Public Transport: Pinkston Paddlesports is a short walk from Cowcaddens Underground.
